  • Nov. 26th, 2009 at 8:49 PM

Baby Pumz received a special birthday treat this morning, an orange poppy seed birthday cake, freshly baked with extra crisp crust. Naturally, the cake was so yummy that she felt compelled to share them with all 3 kids whom finished their slice in ONE mouth! Happy Birthday again!

Here's the kids waiting for their treat...

2 days to 26 and 4 days to the BBQ...

  • Nov. 24th, 2009 at 9:19 AM
2 days to the real deal of aging... Many would say 26 is "still a young age" but I choose to believe that once you hit 21... its all downhill from there on.. well, guess I've been downhill for a while now??
Anyway, Thursday I get to celebrate my birthday once again... Felt excited until I looked at my work roster!! Thursday evening and ON CALL!! Chey! I get to spend my birthday being called back into work!!! Well, yet again, getting paid is a blessing. So given the romantic candlelight dinner with my hubs is not an option for Thursday evening.. maybe he'll organize a little picnic at the park by his office during his lunch hour? *hint hint*

Now the true excitement shall reveal itself this Saturday! BBQ day!! Hubs and I have still yet to confirm a location for our BBQ... We actually tried to book a Mandurah canal home for the weekend but the rental agent wanted to charge us $980 for a 2 night stay... Seriously people! Time to invest in a canal home! So given that the canal home thingy fell through... that leaves us with several other options.. Heath cote in Applecross, Kings Park, South Perth foreshore... The next battle after mentally choosing a spot would be to physically go down early Saturday morning to "CHOUP" the pit! I could just think of several "Singaporean" things I'de be doing this Saturday...

1. Chouping the pit to start
2. Placing out a 100 beach mats and chairs around the pit to choup the entire area!
3. Umbrellas for many who detest the Aussie sun (whilst you see your next door ang mor neighbor busking in the sun topless)
4. This one is good.. We bought squid tentacles for deep frying.. but I hate oil splattering around the house so guess where I'll be deep frying my "yao yue so"? In the park!! My master plan?? I'll bring the portable gas stove to the park and deep fry there!!!! muahahahaha... Hopefully the umbrellas will hide my embrassment...
I could think of so many more... but shan't further embarrass myself!

Next on my list to think about? Pressies...
Hmmm, gave my hubby a list... he looked at me stunned.. and then I said, yes babes, I'm not the ordinary girl you married...
So what was in the list to warrant such a look?
1. Lawn Mower
2. Hedger
3. Leaf Blower
4. Whipper sniper
5. Plants for my wheel barrow (my poor wheel barrow has been barren since summer came and haven't had the time to replant it! If someone could do it for me.. why not??)

So as you can see.. everything that I've asked for so far has got to do with the garden!!! I reckon if I had all these tools to my name.. I'de find gardening a little more pleasant! Maybe we should just re-hire a gardener??

Well, the lucky last on my list was this

something a little more normal as a pressie.. my poor camper shoes have been over worked... its a hard life for shoes that belong to vets! They get trampled on, pee-ed and poo-ed on, chewed my the beasts... need new shoes!!! Someone pretty please fulfill the only normal wish on my list!

Will update you all more next time on how this weekend of suprises will unfold!

Preparation for Parenting Course

  • Nov. 23rd, 2009 at 4:40 PM
Man.. I tell ya... Going through this course is like going through uni once again... lots of reading, lots of highlighting and QNAs! You think having a kid is just popping one out? No no no... Homework home and more homework! Can't even pay someone to complete the homework for you cos if you do, you get fruits of your bad labor (or should I say, no labor) for the next 20 years!

Lifesavers to help you get through this period of study.. Mr Freckles! The "choc buds with 100s and 1000s"... hmmm, and don't forget Mr Google, Ms Facebook and of course Mr Gmail.. all part of the encouragement team. My hubby is so fortunate he doesn't have to do the homework this week! 2 tedious chapters all about feeding and monitoring a baby's growth. He did last weeks, this week's my turn.. got the tougher bit of the bargain I say!

Lawn Mowing

  • Nov. 20th, 2009 at 6:55 AM
Last Friday saw us borrowing a lawn mower & a whipper sniper to do our lawns... ourselves! Mowing wasn't too bad once the mower got started but the back garden is still not presentable enough... even for this blog! Here's some pictures of baby at work.

40 Days of Love

  • Nov. 10th, 2009 at 7:01 PM
We have just completed the 40 Days of Love series in church and must say, it was a challenge to relearn and discover new dimensions of love. The extend of God's love to us is so inmeasurable that we are compiled to love Him and love His love in return. A lot of practical tips learn and now its the hard part.... putting them into action!

Updates from Perth

  • Oct. 20th, 2009 at 10:44 PM
With Baby Pumz still in Singapore, I sought some comfort food to fill in the "void". This meal cost $13.90 with the large coleslaw costing $6.00!! talk about overpriced salad!!!

In other news, i unpacked the pair of sandals Da passed to me to bring back for Mummy Khong and I cannot help wonder if he wanted to make a statement on her dancing skills....

Goodbye Gong Gong

3 Years On...

  • Sep. 8th, 2009 at 9:32 PM
Last week marked the 3rd anniversary of Kinnen! It was on 3 Sept 2006, at Larkhill Veterinary Clinic that 2 soul mates spend a time looking after a sick foal and started a journey which led them to find love! Yes! It was our third year anniversary and we celebrated by having dinner and spending the night at the Loose Box Restaurant.

Take for example this week when I went to Baby Pumz' hospital and met one of her patients.... a baby kangaroo!! I can't wait to show her my tax effect excel worksheet!!

Stop & Stare

  • Sep. 1st, 2009 at 11:06 PM
Its been a busy few weeks at work, home and church. With little time for rest, we are both feeling strained and drained. I was reminded of a poem by William Henry Davies which encouraged us to take a moment with the dogs for a walk round the neighbourhood. During the walk, we stumbled across a field filled with little flowers.

What is this life if full of care

We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep, or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this, if full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.
